SB675B: Through the Lens

This advanced course pays critical attention to the ways photography, video, and film impact the contemporary artist.  Through explorative assignments, students make use of lens-based tools to address a wide scope of concerns: from the impact of social media, to the overt language of advertising, to the poetics of the fine-art exhibition. Each session introduces technical demonstrations supported by group discussions.  Together this provides concrete opportunities to develop skills and further enrich one’s individual development and approach to the medium of photography and video. Students must provide their own lens-based equipment.
