Jesse Chehak (chee-hock) [b. 1979, USA] is an artist and educator who creates photographs, films, and other projects.  His pictures are inquisitive encounters with place, community, the environment, and the experiences that follow. His approach to portraiture and landscape takes its contemporary departure from the established traditions of these genres, which he developed with the guidance of the preeminent American photographers Joel Sternfeld at Sarah Lawrence College and with Frank Gohlke at the University of Arizona/CCP. His art practice is underpinned by independent projects, exhibitions, and collaborations across a wide spectrum of printed and digital media. Chehak applies his curiosity about the world and capacity to create visual entry points to extensive assignment work for publications including Dwell, Fortune, T Magazine, Newsweek, Nowness, Travel + Leisure, W, Wallpaper, Wire, and WSJ. Magazine. He has done campaigns for brands including Aetna, Dupont, Johnson & Johnson, Lexus, Nike, American Express, Orange, Vestas, LP, and T-Mobile. Chehak is Visual Arts faculty at the Latin School of Chicago.
